A new start just in time for the End

A new start just in time for the End published on 6 Comments on A new start just in time for the End

Way back in 2005, I starting drawing a comic as a way to keep busy over Spring Break. Nine years later, I think I’m finally ready to say goodbye to Juathuur. After two incarnations that cumulatively total over 1700 pages, I think I can safely say this comic has had a good, long run. I wouldn’t consider it my best work, but it has served to carry me through that awkward transition from college to “real life”, taught me discipline and dedication in my practice, and connected me with so many amazing readers and creators. I think of it as a sketchbook that maintains a record of 9 years of evolution and worldbuilding.

As Gatecrash draws to a close with chapter 43, I want to thank all the readers who have stuck with me over the years through all the highs and lows, as well as everyone whose feedback and encouragement kept me going. And yes, even those readers who so meticulously assisted in calling me out on all my typos and continuity errors (so many!).

Although I’m sure I could easily wring another couple hundred pages out of this project, I’m feeling that the time is right to pull it to a conclusion and allow the other stories waving around in my brain for attention to have their chance in the sun. The comic will continue to live here until I get around to making it into an ebook.

So what’s next? I think I’ll take a break from comics for a bit and focus on finishing up the novels I’ve got on the go. If you wanna keep apprised of my new stuff, feel free to follow me on twitter, my tumblr artblog ( or on DA. And hey, I’m always looking for beta readers!

Enjoy the countdown to the end and thanks again for the amazing ride.

I think this was one of the first webcomics I ever read. Juathuur has certainly been the gateway through which I’ve met several wonderful artists and readers. It’s been an eventful few years, even from the sidelines, but it’s been a fun experience over-all. Thank you for sharing your talents for drawing, coloring, and story-telling with us. I’ll continue to keep an eye out for more of your work!

Aw, a welcome back in time to see you go? Sadnesses. But It is always nice to know when to end, rather than dragging on until you burn out. And it has been a great run. I think I’ve been reading Juathuur almost since the beginning, and it’s been a trip. :3

I’m going to miss Juathuur! I started reading, god 6 years ago now. I have grown to love your story telling, and I’m so sad to see this end. I do know that every story does need to end though. I would love to be a beta reader! I’m a huge book whore and I already love reading what you write :)
